About Me

My name is Melissa Haynes. I grew up in Te Aroha, a small rural town. I have always loved animals and have been surrounded by them since I was little.
I got my first tabby bi colour male Napoleon kitten off Trademe November 2008 from Rick and Robyn Golden, thats when the obsession with these cute dwarf cats started.

This wonderful little mans name is Tiny Tim (his pedigree name is “Tiptoe Thru Da Tulips”)  I fell in love with his personality instantly. One day he taught me to play fetch with him by bringing me his toy mouse to my feet, so I would throw it, then find him placing it back at my feet to throw again, he found great joy in this little game, it kept us entertained for hours. The personality of this beautiful little cat got me interested in cat breeding. Unfortunately Tiny was already desexed so I started off by emailing various people selling cats on trademe. I soon ran into The Yellow Brick Society. Which I now belong to. We are a small group who breed cats that belong to the Lilliputian Breed Group (dwarf cats). We follow a strict guideline when it comes to the safety and health of our cats. To become a member of The Yellow Brick Road Society I had to become a member of Catz Inc which is one of the two cat organisations in NZ. www.catzinc.org.nz. I started showing with Catz in March 2009. Tiny did so well at the show we were hooked. (It also happened to be my 19th birthday which made it all the more special!) We then went on to show Tiny for the rest of the year, Pumpkin soon joined the family and I begun to show her too, she also does well at the shows.
Catz Inc hold shows monthly (8mnths/year) where our cats compete for prizes and points (to gain titles). Prizes consist of cat food, cat toys and cat bedding etc. They are very long days, but in my opinion, essential for a new breeder to attend. They are great for meeting similar minded people willing to share your journey.
I started off by building a cattery and stocking up on cat goodies. Then I found Truffles, a beautiful seal pointed persian, and shortly after talking to her mum, she was sold. A few months later Pumpkin and Max joined the family. Pumkins a beautiful red tabby napoleon. Max is a sweet black bi-color munchkin. And a beautiful little persian tabby point boy has just joined the family. He is the funniest little kitten I've ever seen, he is having a ball with the other cats and kittens and he has already made himself a spot on my pillow.
